Glen A. Meger Owner

Glen A. Meger is the owner of Brick-Meger Funeral Home and the Medford Funeral Home. A native of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, he attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s School of Mortuary Science.

Glen and his wife Cheryl have lived in Owatonna for over twenty-five years. They are the parents of Mike, Alex, and Brett and grandparents to Saelac, Lukas, twins Gabriel and Liam, and Eli.

Glen is an avid high school and collegiate wrestling fan. He is a certified wrestling official and has enjoyed working at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament for thirty years. Glen is on the Board of Directors for The Clash, a national high school wrestling dual tournament held in Rochester, Minnesota, each year.

Glen has held several roles with Council 945, Knights of Columbus, including Grand Knight. He is a member of the Msgr. Henry Speck Assembly - Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and has served as the Faithful Navigator for the Assembly.

He is active with the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce, having served on the Board of Directors and continues to serve as a Chamber Ambassador. In addition, Glen is on the Steele County Fair Board as the Director of Inside Concessions. He was President of the Owatonna Rotary Club as they observed their 100 year anniversary in 2022, and continues to serve as Past-President. 

Glen has dedicated his career in funeral service to establishing a tradition of service to families. He is proud to serve and continue his civic involvement in the communities of Medford and Owatonna.

Michael Meger Mortician

Michael is a 2003 graduate of Owatonna High School, where he was a standout wrestler and earned All-American honors. Michael was a Division I wrestler for North Dakota State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2008. He then attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, and completed his mortuary science degree in 2009. Michael has a wide range of experience, having worked at funeral homes in Chicago, St. Paul, and Oakes, North Dakota, before returning to the family business in 2013.

Michael is actively involved in the Lion's Club and is a past president. He is a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife, Destinee, make their home in Owatonna. Destinee owns her own business as a personal trainer. They are proud parents of Saelac Glen, who was born in June of 2017 and twins Gabriel and Liam who were born in February of 2022.

Michael looks forward to carrying on the tradition of funeral service and caring for families that has been established by his father, Glen.

Brett Meger Mortician

Brett Meger is a a 2011 graduate of Owatonna High School. He attended Bemidji State University in 2011-2013 receiving his associate degree and completed his mortuary science degree in 2015 at the University of Minnesota.

 

Brett comes to the organization with a wide range experience having worked at funeral homes in Bemidji, Robbinsdale, and in Red Wing, Minnesota. 

 

Brett enjoys following the Huskies in all sports, but especially baseball and wrestling.  When not at work, Brett can often be found on a lake or river, fishing for the next big catch.  He is a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

 

He is on staff with his brother, Mike, and his father, Glen, as a licensed mortician. He commented, “It is good to be among family and friends and I look forward to serving the families in our area during their time of need.”

Cheryl Meger Office Manager

Cheryl joined the staff at Brick-Meger and Medford Funeral Homes in the fall of 2021, after completing a 34-year career in education. A native of Winsted, Minnesota, she attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in math and health teaching.   She furthered her education with a Master’s Degree in school counseling from Winona State University and a license in School Administration from the University of Minnesota. She worked at Mankato East, Southwest Middle School in Albert Lea, and for the last 18 years of her career as a Dean of Students at Lakeville North High School. 

 

Cheryl currently serves as secretary of the Pastoral Council and is a lector and homebound communion minister for Sacred Heart Church.  She became a trustee for the Owatonna Foundation in 2023. She is passionate about gardening and recently completed the Master Gardener certification.

 

She is proud to be a member of the family business, organizing and managing the office, and helping support the morticians in their work with families.

Tim Rice Public Relations/Advertising

Tim Rice handles the advertising and public relations for the Brick-Meger organization. He brings experience in this field after a 32-year career with Federated Insurance. Rice graduated from Truman State University with a degree in Business Administration.

He and his wife Linda are the proud parents of two children and five grandchildren. Tim is active in the Owatonna Knights of Columbus, where he is an Honorary Life Member, and served at the state level as a District Deputy for more than four years.

In addition to his advertising and public relations duties, he is available to assist at funerals and visitations.

Scott Kozelka Staff Member

Scott Kozelka is a staff member for the Brick-Meger organization. After a 32-year career with Aramark Corporation Scott decided to stay home in Owatonna to manage the Steele County Free Fair. Working at the fair allows him to help with the team at Brick-Meger Funeral Home to assist at funerals and visitations. Kozelka graduated from Edgerton Senior High School in Edgerton WI and Business Courses from Mankato State University. 

 

He and his wife Gayle are the proud parents of two children and three grandchildren. Scott is a 3rd Degree member in the Owatonna Knights of Columbus , Owatonna Elks, Owatonna Lions Club and serves as an Owatonna Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. Along with being very involved in both City and County activities as the SCFF Manager.

 

 

Scott is a proud member of the Brick - Meger organization and takes pride in helping families in a time of need.

Terry Kuck Staff Member

Terry retired as a Facilities Coordinator at Federated Insurance in 2023 and is a staff member of the business family of the Brick – Meger and Medford Funeral Homes.

 

He and his wife of 31 years, Lisa, a retired product manager at Federated Insurance, are involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and have had a little for the past five years.

 

Terry is a member of the Eagles Club and the Owatonna Knights of Columbus. He frequently works the KC benefit breakfasts. He enjoys watching and attending Minnesota Gopher football games as well as Owatonna wrestling. He participates in golf and curling, two sports he enjoys.

 

Terry says it is important to him to help people out during their difficult times.

Tom Standke Staff Member

After 39 years working at Harland’s Tire in Owatonna, Tom is proud to be a part of the Brick-Meger and Medford Funeral Home business family as a staff member. He takes pride in helping families in their time of need.

 

Tom and his wife Sandy, who retired from the Owatonna Public Schools, are proud parents of two adult children and five grandsons who all live in Owatonna. You can usually see Tom at the hockey rink or watching his grandsons in their sporting activities around town.

 

Tom is a member of the Owatonna Knights of Columbus, VFW  Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion.

John and his wife Lori are parents of two children and enjoy their five grandchildren. They have lived in Owatonna for over forty years and raised their family here.

 

John has been involved in several local organizations giving his time and talent to benefit the local community. John takes pride in helping families in need and is proud to be a member of the Brick Meger and Medford Funeral home family.

Brett Meger
